Countdown
NaNoWriMo is just around the corner, past the choir events and to the right of the candy gorging. This year, though, I’m going into Wrimo with something I’ve never had before: an idea of where my story will end. My novel from two years ago suddenly turned into a trilogy, so I've decided to start into the second book for Wrimo. Two years ago, Kalea chased a goat through the woods near her property for a page and a half. Shortly thereafter, Eyad, a character wholly new to my concious, showed up at her little farm and set the course for the entire story. After the intial conflict, I had to explain it, and the story has grown and grown and become more and more complex. I still haven't finished the first book, or come near to it. But I've finally planned out everything that happens, as well as the key plot points in the second book. Hopefully the third book's purpose will emerge in time for NaNoWriMo 2007.
So the month of November shall be spent with me trying to work out a relationship between a human and an elf (and keeping it from becoming clichè), figuring out how to kill off one character and whether or not more should die, detailing the inner workings of the "dark elf mafia", and many more plot points besides.
In my next post I'll try to detail some of book one. Now, however, my nice soft pillow is calling to me. Calling out in a voice that says "Freaking get to bed already! You have to be up in six hours, and here you are perfecting your post. Sleep is more important than writing."
Honestly, I don't know why I listen to it.
